Ask The Professor
Q: What is a sub domain?
A:
The domain name that you register and buy is the middle part of a three-part address. The first part, the http/www part tells the browser software to look for a web page. The last part is the top-level domain extension such as .com, .net, .org or.gov. The middle part, the "yourname" in www.yourname.com is the part that belongs to you as long as you keep your registration current.
A subdomain will look like this: http://yourbiz.yourname.com It can also look like this: http://yourname.com/yourbiz Many adult free hosts give member webmasters a subdomain as their free host web address.
