Lesson #17
Maximizing Free Content!
Written By Titmowse
The truth is most of us don't own paysites. We don’t run graphic design companies. We aren’t content brokers or hosts. The majority of us make our living selling sponsor programs and services. We build sites with profit in mind. We make galleries and AVS and free sites all designed to get surfers to buy stuff from our sponsors. We incorporate all the tools we can afford to make our sites into places that produce results. Sometimes we can’t afford much or any paid content. Sometimes we need free content.
If you own a paysite, you have to use paid content. The more you spend for unique, exclusive content, the better your paysite’s member base/retention will be. Paysites must use paid content. For free site makers and gallery builders paid content is helpful but not at all necessary for prosperity. Quite a lot of adult webmasters use free content to make their sites and pages. They manage to acquire bookmarkers, gain search engine listings, get galleries listed and make money, all with free content. While there might be some drawbacks to using free content, the benefits of doing so can be great if the content is used effectively.
The major downfall of free content is oversaturation. Because there are so many webmasters and so much free content to go around, the free stuff gets over-used pretty fast. Gallery builders especially face this dilemma when adding gratis content to their pages. The moment a TGP reviewer sees one gallery of free sponsor content, they’ve seen em all. There are other pitfalls to using free content such as the exclusivity of it. It usually comes attached with conditions that are only fair for the price. Sometimes one can use free content only to lose traffic to its provider. Most sponsors let you attach your affiliate ID to almost any free pic-of-the-day scripts, hosted galleries or adult storefronts as long as they provide them. Yet there are sources of free content where part of the trade-out is a loss of traffic to banners and watermarked URLs on images.
The trick to incorporating complimentary content into your adult venture is to understand how to display it so it looks like new. Sometimes you can do it with graphics and layouts and themes. Sometimes you can embellish free content by adding a story or super sexy text.
Quantity is a plus when using free images and clips. Some webmasters set up huge sites that contain only sponsor content with their referrer codes attached to each supplied gallery or dildo purchased. Some sponsors offer massive amounts of content that enable their affiliates to build whole free sites. Free content is versatile. There’s everything from erotica to toons to flash games obtainable for a webmaster. Whatever fetish or niche you choose you will find free content sources for it.
Instead of just plastering some free images on a site with the usual gallery link format, try something more interesting. Take a series of shots and add some paragraphs of text next to them. Find a particular model and make up a little story involving her/him. Cast yourself as some studly pimp and show off your bitchez with free images and video clips. Look for costume content and build a site with a fitting theme.
Gallery builders can also benefit from free content. Even though it gets overexposed quickly, the watchful affiliate will download and serve up a sponsor content gallery and do fairly well with it. Sponsor content is good stuff and it perfectly describes the product. Most sponsors update free stuff at least once a month and the early affiliate gets the worm. Watch for it and snag it quick. Use your best skills and submit submit submit. You could be first in line with the reviewers and win the gold listing.
If you understand the possibilities and the limitations of free content you can learn how to make it work for you. Just because it’s free doesn’t mean it void of worth. A little creativity and careful timing can make any content work for you. After all, what have you got to lose?
