Convention Whiz
Lesson #09
Promotional Products
Written By Titmowse
Everyone loves a freebie even adult webmasters.
Admittedly, traveling to an adult webmaster convention or gathering is expensive. While many of us have no trouble hopping on a plane and flying to the next big party, a good consensus of adult webmasters need to watch their pennies. Added costs can be detrimental to the newbie webmaster trying to get to Vegas. But if you're going to an adult webmaster event, it might be a great idea to set aside a little extra cash for promotional items advertising your business. Part of the thrill of going to an adult show is coming back with a stash of goody giveaways. All those hungry porn peddlers will remember you and your business even better if you give them a little schwag.
At Internext/Las Vegas 2003, there were all types of stuff free for the taking. Light-up bouncing balls, t-shirts, pens, mousepads, t-shirts, stickers and more t-shirts lay out on the convention floor like a Sunday buffet. Adult Internet professionals gobbled up the treats and came back for more. In fact, one of the most popular giveaways was good old-fashioned candy.
The fact is that today you can get your logo printed on just about anything. What's even better is you can get it done very inexpensively and quickly. You can order in person, online or even by mail. Conventions and shows are exactly where promotional bonuses are best utilized. After all, there's permanence to a personal meeting. Why not solidify your business encounters with a tangible object?
The primary promotional item any adult webmaster should include in their traveling arsenal is the business card. Even if you're not incorporated you can give your business a name or you can display your name/nick/email/phone number/job description on a business card. Those little pieces of card stock fit nicely in pockets and wallets. They are the standard form of self-promotion and they cost a dime a dozen if not less. Other printed paper items are really just glorified business cards. They cost slightly more but allow for more marketing text, information and graphics. Tri-fold pamphlets, glossy post cards, high quality booklets have come down in price and up in caliber. The least expensive promotional materials are the paper-based ones. If all you can afford is a box of business cards, get them. If you can afford better, your limit is all up to your imagination.
As stated before, you can get your logo printed on almost any article. Thanks to modern technology, you can burn CD's of content samples and even Power Point presentations on your own machine. The possibilities are endless when it comes to what you can employ to market your adult business. At Internext, Exclusive Content gave away mini-convention survival kits that included packets of pain medication, antacid, a small sewing set and their business cards. Video Secrets provided free cloth tote bags (with their logo printed on them) for webmasters to carry their booty in. Imagine how well that hard working gallery builder will remember your content company each time they use your free pen.
However you choose to do it, do choose to use promotional materials. The cost can be written off as a business expense. The benefits far exceed the cost. Business cards or day-glo flashlights, whatever you bring, bring something.
In our next lesson, we'll cover some of the great places you can go to get promotional materials. Most of them are convenient, cost effective and online!
