As an adult webmaster, you’re going to find quite a few of your peers resent the mere presence of free porn sites. Especially since the advent of Thumbnail Gallery Posts, the amount of free smut has expanded enough to boggle the mind.

Imagine how much storage one TGP would have to have if they actually served all the thousands and thousands of images they link to off their own machines? When a person can visit a couple of TGP sites and download hundreds of images in one sitting, it makes it particularly difficult for paysites to convince surfers they offer more and better content than they can get at freesites. Add onto TGPs the thousands of adult sites that deliver unimpeded access to gigabytes of pictures and video (and the Top Lists that direct surfers to them) and you’ve got an awful lot of porn available for nothing.

Getting noticed and getting traffic to your adult site is primary to the success of your moneymaking efforts. If you own a free adult site, then you are probably doing it to make money. You are hoping that your clever marketing skills will get surfers to not only visit your site but also go farther and patronize your sponsors. Your free adult site can be a hindrance or a help to profits and so much depends on the kind of porn you offer for free.

When we talk about kinds of porn, there are many forms that come to mind. For the purposes of this lesson, let’s concentrate on the two rudimentary types of porn: Softcore porn and Hardcore porn.

Will your free adult site feature softcore porn only, hardcore porn or a combination of both? Does giving your customers free access to hardcore images sabotage your attempts to make your surfers pay for memberships to your sponsor’s sites?

Your free adult site has a purpose. It’s purpose is to excite and intrigue your surfers so much they want to pay for more. Whether you sell for your sponsors or your own paysite or service, you have to decide just how much is too much when it comes to the free samples. You also want to be able to give surfers enough free content so they will visit and re-visit your adult page. Your task is to find that right combination of eye tantalizing candy, teasing text and a sponsor worth promoting.

The big mistake a lot of adult webmasters make is putting too much value in their traffic numbers. While it’s true that the more people you reach, the more you increase your profit potential, too many free site builders go to extremes when attracting hits. They try to stay ahead of the competition by giving away more free stuff than the other guy gives. They want to get the numbers up and do so by featuring what the surfer cannot get, which many times means hardcore images and video.

Cozy Academy is not suggesting you completely ban hardcore from your free site. A free site cannot possibly deliver the amount of quality content a paysite can and still make a profit. Paysites offer multitudinous goodies that require huge amounts of bandwidth and the best servers money can buy. They constantly feed out live video, chat, full-length porn movies and gigabytes of images.

The problem is the surfer doesn’t know what a paysite has to offer until they experience it. People can lower their pleasure threshold if they aren’t aware of better sources. There are plenty of healthy males who satisfy their needs with a long look at a certain lingerie catalog. The most popular American men’s subscription-based magazine is softcore.

Though we in the porn world see smut as a healthy outlet, there’s still a social stigma attached to even men that look at porn. You have to inform your surfers that you are showing them how they can see what they’ve always wanted to see but were afraid to ask for. The samples you show to have to draw people to your site much like a store’s display window.

The most wonderful candy store in the world will give a sample but only to whet the appetite. You deal in porn and your candy should be sampled out so as to make the mouth water for more. For many, the candy is not the softcore but the hardcore. If you choose to dole out free hardcore content to your surfers, make sure it is done in a way that leaves them wanting.
