Lesson #13
The Gay Niche
Written By Titmowse
Gay porn is one of those categories of adult online sex that shouldn't really be considered a niche. Like straight, hardcore, softcore or teen, the gay niche has a huge and regular following. A webmaster can make an extremely good living depending on only gay content. By that same virtue, there are so many successful gay paysites that a new adult webmaster might face formidable competition. They might find themselves having to incorporate gay sub-niche content or sponsors to make sure they get as much opportunity to make money as possible.
Like an adult site could be a general-purpose straight site, a gay site can also be general-purpose. A gay site can be on paid-for hosting or free host. Pretty much all-free hosts allow gay accounts and many have specially formatted gay-specific URLs. The only differences between gay and straight sites are the content and marketing.
Gay content is as varied as straight with it's own niches. As said before, the term niche in the adult Internet is not always clearly defined. The adult world is approximately 20 percent gay or lesbian. Actually, when we refer to the gay niche, we should probably specify that we mean men. Lesbians have their own niche just like they have their own name. Gay means male same-sex. Lesbian means female same-sex. Lesbians might not want to see nude men, but you never know. Humans are funny, there are straight housewives that love gay porn and there are
gay men that like straight porn. On the whole, you're safe if you try to market a gay site to gay men.
The majority of adult content providers sell gay images and videos. There are even gay-specific content providers. You can buy image sets and video clips or streams. You can get hardcore or softcore content. The difference with gay content as far as hardcore/softcore is that softcore involves solo models or no genital contact between male models. Oral or anal sex is hardcore.
Some providers of adult gay content are:
Whether you open a free or pay gay site, you will probably use sponsor affiliation as a means of earning income. AVS, TGPs and gay top list
sites can benefit from gay referrer codes on their pages. There are tons of gay sponsorship programs. A few ones that we've found are:
The gay market is so strong; there are even gay-specific free hosts and website networks. Some of these are:
The gay niche is a world unto itself with the suspected amount of curious members. One can tailor the theme of their site to teen gay men or to husband's secret adventures. You can definitely incorporate gay stories and online games into your web. There are gay voyeur sites much like their college coed counterparts. Gay sites are just like straight
sites or lesbian sites except that they are, well...gay.
Gay men like blowing each other and screwing each other and envisioning fantasy scenarios as much as the straight man. They have pin-up models and favorite body parts and all the other imaginable fetishes as any breeder.
A lot of times, gay men have disposable income and porn is a popular luxury. Unfortunately, gay porn lovers have to socially conceal their desires more so than the straight porn-loving male. This social stigmatization is not fair but the Internet has given gay men (as well as all other adults) a freedom to privately explore their basic urges for a small membership fee.
