    Lesson #28 For The Ladies
    Written By Titmowse

Fans of the movie “Boiler Room” will advise you: don’t pitch the bitch. Adult webmasters will tell you that the female market is unprofitable, unreliable and unworthy of effort. The majority of adult websites cater to males for a reason. Men buy porn. When it comes to the adult entertainment market women have always been the odd customers.

Some women dig atypically male enjoyments such as viewing gangbang pics or visiting strip bars. Quite a lot of gals favor the idea of two women munching down on each other. Women like erotica and sexual subjects. The thing is they aren’t shopping for it as often as their male counterparts. Sex simply isn’t a part of the daily thought process for a female as it is for a male. Men think about sex all throughout their waking hours. A woman probably won’t entertain sexual notions that often unless she’s in the throws of a fresh love affair. To women, sex is part of the landscape. To men, sex is the focal point of the view.

Curiously, recent statistics have shown that it’s women who make the majority of purchases on the Internet. In fact, analysts predict women will exceed men as Internet users overall. The division is already at 50/50. Being there are already over half a billion Internet users on the planet, that means you shut out over a quarter of a billion potential customers when you ignore the female adult Internet audience. The reality is most adult webmasters don’t ever bother to give the ladies what they want. Men are simply easier.

If you know a needy audience, then you know it’s smart business to exploit that market. There is a sad lack of content and sponsor/affiliate opportunities available for webmasters who choose women as their clientele. Yet there are all these women surfing the web looking for something who surf in futility. If you want to sell programs to women, you have to figure out how to reach that searching female. The best way to do that is to look deeper into published studies on the behaviors of women surfers.

The most common behavior of women surfers is that of multi-tasking. Men were shown to surf in a linear fashion. Men looked for specific, predictable places on the web. Men look for either sex, sports, news or stocks quotes. Men search for what they want and when they find it they log off.

On the other hand, women wander on the web. They read, they shop, they communicate with friends and family and they do it all in one session. Women want the best bang for their buck when it comes to the web. They want more than some dirty stories and a few stud shots. They want shopping. They want adult personals. They want advice. They want free email. Men think of one thing and go for it. Women look at everything and pick what they need.

When building a site for the female niche the most important constant is respect. Some women like extreme stuff but most are turned off by a condescending or hostile attitude from a webmaster. You probably won’t get far posting sales text peppered with words like bitch or slut. Save the humiliation for S&M pages.

When browsing adult providers for women-friendly content try to stay away from imagery that’s obviously gay. There are women who like gay porn but for women who don’t it’s somewhat offensive. The same goes with lesbian content. Contrary to popular culture, not all women are hot for other chicks. If you want to serve gay or lesbian content to females, categorize it as such or make a completely different site for it.

Another thing to consider is erotica. Yes, women read more than they view pictures and video. That doesn’t mean you can buy some package of 200 stories, slap them on a page and call it a woman’s porn site. Women are a harder sell than that. Female customers require romancing just like female lovers. Women want something more than words and bits. Women want a portal.

Whether you’re creating a glorified TGP, free site, paysite or sponsor trap, you’ll snag more gals with a portal. A portal is really just a website with a bunch of interactive services for the viewer. A portal links to daily news, helpful hints, cybershops, useful services -such as a free online calendar- or any other collection of various links within a logical theme. A portal site is kind of like an online version of a mall.

Here are some related links to sponsor programs that feature "For Women" websites:

Women are not an impossible market for the adult webmaster. They’re just unlike men in how they surf the net or think about sex. Find some good stories. Buy imagery you know is tantalizing to your desired target of females. Set up an online adult toy store through a sponsor. Supply your ladies with free email, an advice column, online dating services or weekly astrological readings. The way to do it all productively is to do it with a portal. Give the ladies a selection and a choice and they will choose you!
