If you need to perform a task with a computer, chances are there is a software program that can do the job. While there are a few expensive programs, most computer software is very affordable, especially considering the tasks that these tools perform.

The Boy Scouts have a motto: Always be prepared.

As any Parent of a Scout will tell you, that means you have to buy a lot of stuff you’re never going to use again after Scouts are over.

When you become an adult webmaster, you’re going to need certain types of software. What you don’t need to do is go buy out the shelves at the Circuit City. Then again, a lot of freeware is free because it’s crap. Will you have to spend money on software for this business? Yes. Should you go get that software right now? No. Read the lessons in this class first.

Our lesson plan will cover the different programs and applications most used by adult webmasters. If you are familiar with some of these software titles then good for you. If you’ve mastered some of them, even better. Just the same, do take the time to browse through our lessons.

Naturally, adult webmasters use webpage creation software and graphics editing programs.

We also use ftp clients, databases, batch processors and site management suites. Most of us come into this industry proficient at one piece of software relative to the field. However, few of us know all the apps and most of us are still in practice mode with some. At some point, we all realize our strengths and weaknesses concerning software.

If you’re lucky enough to be part of a team then each of you can specialize in a particular program. Most of us will be working and learning individually. Most of us are going to have to learn new things whether we want to or not. Successful adult webmasters are the ones that get their hands dirty with the software and the hardware. Not just the porn.

As stated in the opening, there is a program for everything, no matter your webmastering need. We’re going to show you what you need. We’ll teach you where to find HTML editors, image editors, ftp clients, website management and security software. We’ll even delve into downloading pre-made scripts.

Being an adult webmaster is kind of like being a part of a club. We have the same hobbies. We work in the same environment. We buy the same supplies. We use the same kinds of software. We know what works, what doesn’t work and where the good bargains are.
