Lesson #03
Pay Per Signup
Written By Titmowse
Pay Per Signup. Pay Per Membership. PPS. What is it? What will it do for you?
Make you money of course!
Imagine that instead of selling porn on the Internet, you’re selling shoes at a store in the mall for a commission. You know how that works right? You have to talk to the customer. You have to touch their toes. You have to convince them that the shoes you slip on their feet are far more than utilitarian protection from broken glass and germs.
“These aren’t shoes! These are magic vessels that will carry you to greatness, my dear!”
There’s an art to selling shoes and for that talent, the salesman is paid a percentage of the retail cost for each pair. This is very much like selling a Sponsor product through a Pay Per Signup Program. You market a Sponsor that offers membership access and you are paid a commission on that fee for each member you generate. Clean. Simple. Even for the mathematically impaired.
Like all Sponsor Payout Programs, Pay Per Signup has advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage is that PPS Programs offer the Affiliate webmaster the highest commission per transaction. They Payout the most money at once.
On average, an Affiliate webmaster can expect to make roughly $35.00 per membership sold to a surfer. Some Sponsors Payout more, some less. The types of membership differ among Sponsors. Most times, you’ll sell memberships to paysites. You might also sell online magazine subscriptions or you might get your surfers to join one of those XXX DVD rental clubs.
The important thing to realize is that you are paid once per surfer. The more new surfers you convince to buy your Sponsor, the more money you’ll make. No residuals. No Recurring Payouts. Just one commission per membership.
You look for a Sponsor that offers a site or service you like. You read all the FAQ answers and informational text on the webmaster page of that Sponsor. You make yourself familiar with the Terms of Service. You come to fully comprehend the terms of your Affiliation with your Sponsor. You find out what product or site you’ve got to market to surfers. You explore the site. You research the product. You examine the free marketing materials provided by your Sponsor. You look for Affiliate Benefits like free content or prize points. You study the Payout schedule and details. Most of all, you check to see if the Sponsor offers a Pay Per Signup Program.
After you do your analysis, sign up and apply for an Affiliate account. Make sure that you choose the Pay Per Signup Program when you apply. While some Sponsors let you change your membership options after you open an account, some don’t.
After you complete your Affiliate registration and are accepted, your new Sponsor will issue to you a unique ID. This ID is your tracking code. You’ll need to use it in every link/ad banner for your Sponsor. We call it a Referrer ID. Each time you make a sale, your Sponsor will pay you a flat amount or percentage on each membership. They will know you made those sales (or Joins) because they’ll see your Referrer ID in their log files.
You’ll have your work cut out for you no matter how great your Sponsor’s mojo. When you sell memberships for access to adult content, you’re expecting the surfer to pay a bigger fee up front. You’ll need your own mojo in order to promote successfully.
The best way to insure a productive effort is to sell memberships to sites and services that you would enjoy. Find a Sponsor you can trust. Explore your options. There are hundreds of adult Sponsors and most of them offer a Pay Par Sign up Program to Affiliate webmasters. Pick two or three and try them out on different sites and galleries.
So put on those magic shoes and hop over to the Cozy Academy Library or the Sponsor listings at Cozy Frog to find your PPS Sponsor today!
