Lesson #24
Stressing the Rules
Written By Titmowse
TGP site owners control the ebb and flow of gallery traffic. If you want to your gallery to be listed, you have to bend to their will. Thumbnail Gallery Post operators own the playground in gallery school. That means if you want to make money by building and submitting galleries, you have to play by the rules of the TGP.
Granted, that’s a lot of rules. There are at least a hundred decent TGPs out there with productive, profitable traffic to offer. Each and every one of those TGPs will have their own, personal set of guidelines one must follow in order to be listed. Some of these rules seem a bit silly or counterproductive to your marketing efforts, but that’s the breaks. In the TGP game, you can’t break the rules and expect to get ahead.
Thankfully, most TGPs have some rules that are similar to those of other TGPs. Those rules are:
No CP or Bestiality Content.
This rule is pretty universal for the entire adult Internet industry. Stay away from this content and you’ll be safe all around.
No Pop-ups/Consoles and no Fancy Scripts.
There are a handful of TGP reviewers who don’t mind one popup window or a decorative bit of JavaScript but on average, most TGPs hate that stuff.
No Full Size images on HTML pages.
Naturally, you have to place your gallery thumbnails on an HTML page. However, each thumbnail must link to an image by itself. TGP site owners don’t much care for ads. They make the no image/HTML to reduce the chances that you’ll slip in superfluous advertising.
No Stolen Content and No Hotlinking.
This is another rule that applies to the whole adult web. Buy licensed content for your galleries or use sponsor content for which you have permission. Don’t borrow. Don’t steal.
No Changing the Gallery once it’s been listed.
TGP operators use robots, which detect changes to pages. If you change a simple text link on your listed gallery a TGP could bust you for doing it.
Odds are you’ll find rules like the above on 95% of the TGPs you submit to. As far as other rules, they vary from TGP to TGP. One will demand you place a reciprocal link to them on your gallery, while others would rather you have no TGP recips at all. One will accept no less than 15 thumbnails on a gallery, while others let you in with 12. One TGP will deny your listing because they don’t care for your sponsor or your free host. Still others want only high quality images on listed galleries.
Your job is to read the rules, all of them on all of the TGPs you submit to. You might have to make a few versions of the same gallery for different TGPs. You might have to invest more time than you originally figured. Just remember, other gallery makers are happy to follow the rules and do the hard work. Because they take the extra time, they rise to the top of the list every time.
If you don’t follow the rules of a TGP, you will be blacklisted. TGP operators share their blacklists with other TGP operators. Disobey the rules on one and you take the chance you’ll be refused by all.
