Lesson #33 SEO Recap: Part #2 - Checks & Balances!
    Written By Cyndalie

Welcome to Part #2 of the Search Engine Optimization Recap. In this lesson we will cover some key points when it come to finalizing the search engine optimization on your pages including cross linking, how and when to use promotional pages, as well as a general review on submitting to search engines.

We last left off in Part #1 talking about being consistent and relevant in your optimization efforts. By individualizing each page and by defining a set of specific keywords and phrases you have targeted the page to rank for, you can create targeted, content specific pages which to draw traffic into your site.

Since it is almost impossible to make one page rank for all the keywords you wish to target, rather than bulking out doorway pages full of low quality content, try expanding the actual content of your site to create relevant pages with quality content which you can optimize, therefore expanding your keyword and content foundation for your entire site.

This means that every page which you create for TGP's, Picture Posts, link lists and exchanges, or any “free” features which you have added to your site or created for promotions at other sites can be optimized and linked into your site. It is important to keep search engine efforts in mind when doing any type of promotions because everything page you create can assist in your search engine efforts.

For example, if you create a TGP gallery to submit to posts, consider spending an extra 5 minutes to optimize it for search engines by adding consistent keywords that are relevant to pictures or content featured on the page. By the time the page gets indexed it will most likely be long expired in the TGP's you submitted it to. Once you know the page has expired go back and remove most of the links-to-full-sized-images and change them to link into your site to save yourself bandwidth costs. Do not change the name of the page. These pages that are optimized and waiting to be indexed by the search engines can now act as a doorway or promo page for your web site. Those surfing free picture pages are looking for free porn, but when the traffic is derived from search engines, the potential member gets a fresh preview and an uninterrupted chance to join.

Many webmasters who use multiple domains for marketing or run multiple sites often forget the importance of both cross linking and interlinking their sites and pages. Most often, once the main pages of your site are optimized and you have submitted your site to the search engines, when you go back and add pages do not forget to create a sitemap which every page links to that can act as a Gateway page which spiders can follow to fully index and re-index your site, including any new pages as well as revisit any updated pages.

The greatest importance of cross and interlinking your pages and domains is not only for spidering efforts, it can actually help you lend your own site more relevance and popularity. You want every page, whether actually content or promotional content, to appear to the engine that it is a part of your site. If you create a page and submit it to search engines, yet that page does not link to your home page and other pages of your site (more than one link, or traffic target) and VICE VERSA (other page of your site link to that page) the engine will tend to ignore it or not give it as much relevance as other pages of your site. Text links are highly recommended for cross linking and chain linking. Chain linking is where A page links to B page and B to A, B links to C and C to B and A, etc.

Webmasters need to understand the importance of getting listed in adult search engines and performing link trades with relevant sites before submitting their site to the major engines. Why? Well the more link popularity, or sites linking to your site, you have the better chances for a higher ranking. Most engines give sites with high popularity with relevant sites linking to it better ranking scores because it appears that other sites have found your site worthwhile to link to so therefore the engine also finds it worthy. Affiliate links do not count for this effort. Since affiliate links are only outgoing from your site, and often contain URL's which spiders cannot fully follow, this does your SE efforts no good. Try getting listed and linked up with related niche directories, link lists, and adult engines. If you run a webmaster related website make sure to submit it to as many resource centers as well. I recommend at least 25.

When it comes time to submit your optimized and cross linked pages to the search engines I have one rule of thumb that hasn't failed me yet. Submit no more than 2 pages per domain, per day to any engine. When possible, submit one URL of each domain with www and one without. Submit pages as you create and upload them or save time by doing all of your submission at the end of the day or week. Keep a log or list noting the date of submission and URL for reference purposes.

Here is a brief list of free engines to submit to which ever webmaster should bookmark for reference purposes. Please do NOT spend time optimizing your site only to blow it by using automated “bulk submission” programs. Taking a few extra minutes to manually submit can save you weeks of waiting since many engines block bulk submissions and other forms of automated queries.

More information and tips on submission can be found in the Traffic Lounge Lesson #14! Questions? Let's talk about them at the Cozy Campus message board!
