AIDS: Practise Safe Sex!
Written By Raven
I'm not a young chick anymore. From what I'm reading, it's a good thing to be my age these days. AIDS. That fearsome, mind altering disease has reared its ugly head. Just when photographers were really starting to use condoms and doing away with barebacking, AIDS hit again. The reaction from the webmaster community has been awesome. The responsibility taken by those in the industry who are at risk has been stellar. Porn stars are voluntarily halting production of films until the quarantine period is over. They are losing money, hand over fist; yet, they cherish life more than they do the dollar. It needs to be this way and my prayers are with every single model who acts in a way to keep this deadly disease from spreading any further than it has.
Since I'm married and my one night stand, sexual romping days have been over for some years, I don't worry about the dreaded STD nor do I concern myself with AIDS. This is not to say I shouldn't, even though I believe my husband is faithful and I know I am.
Anyone who is involved in this industry needs to be aware of sexually transmitted diseases. While AIDS is no longer the automatic death sentence, there are diseases like Herpes and genital warts, which last forever and can be very painful and life altering. There are penicillin resistant forms of gonorrhea and syphilis. We need to be aware of them. Intimately aware.
There are plenty of single men and women webmasters in our business. Sex is all around us. Living the 'life' can have devastating effects, if one is not careful.
We live, breathe, and eat porn every day for years on end. Buying content allows webmasters to distance themselves from the models and their sexual proclivities. We don't think about the last time they were tested when purchasing a content set or whether they wore a condom during the gangbang scene.
The news of AIDS has brought awareness to all webmasters, not just the community involved in the content producing sector.
I wonder how many will begin to take precautions when they attend shows. I've seen the casual sex and I'm sure many of the rumours are true about webmasters having sex with multiple partners. Many of these webmasters are either married or have significant others waiting at home. How many tell their partners about that one drunken night of partying which led to bedding a stranger? That's only one scenario, believe me. Sex in the pool. Blow jobs in the elevators, hallways. The scent is everywhere. This is not a moral judgment on those who cheat. At the very most, this is an observational article, noting the high prevalence of sexual activity when webmasters get together. I know women who are positively predatory when it comes to getting action, as well as knowing guys who are the same way. Going to a show is, by their definition, a chance to get laid by whomever.
Now, we have, once again, the fear of AIDS and other nasty diseases. While those involved are voluntarily placing themselves in quarantine, what of the others? The ones who aren't making porn flicks? The webmaster who attends parties and shows? What will he or she do now?
My fear is he or she will do nothing to prevent because they believe in the magical myth. 'This can't happen to me'. My fear is they will bring it home to their partner, if they have one and pass it on. Maybe it's a married man, whose wife is trying to get pregnant and he's carrying an STD or worse.
We are human, after all, constantly in a state of denial. This only happened to those who did anal creampies or did gangbangs and orgies and threesomes. It's limited to the film industry. We're not involved and this doesn't affect us.
Au contraire. Yes, it does. Every single webmaster event brings people from all over the world to a single place. In that space of time, all kinds of body fluid exchanges are occurring between consenting adults.
The moral of this story?
Bring condoms to shows and don't expect your partner to have them. Be responsible for your own health. If you suspect someone is one of those 'multiple partner' people, the kind that will fuck anything that moves, avoid them like the plague because they could easily be carrying a plague you don't want.
The only way to keep this thing contained is to practise safe sex, which, sometimes means no sex at all. It might not sound glamorous; but, at least you'll be alive to attend the next show.
